Flexible Learning

This is a flexible program where you develop at your own pace test

Flexible Learning – A program designed for adult learners balancing music with work and life.

This flexible learning program is created for working adults who are passionate about learning Carnatic music but need a structure that accommodates their professional and personal commitments. Whether you are starting from scratch, returning after a gap, or exploring a new instrument, this program offers a well-rounded path to progress at your own pace — without compromising the depth and integrity of traditional Carnatic training.

What We Offer
Customized Lesson Plans: Each student receives an individualized learning plan based on their goals, prior experience, and time availability. The curriculum covers both foundational and intermediate skills in chosen disciplines: Carnatic Violin, Mridangam, Kanjira, and Konnakkol.

Blended Learning Format: The program combines weekly in-person group classes, occasional one-on-one online lessons and supplemental learning sessions with advanced students. This blend creates a rhythm that is consistent yet manageable for adults with varying schedules.

Peer Mentorship: Advanced students serve as teaching assistants, offering guidance during practice sessions and helping reinforce concepts between classes. This peer-supported model creates a warm, collaborative learning community where learners at different stages can support one another.

Progressive Curriculum: Students will gradually build competence in:
– Instrumental technique
– Repertoire development
– Notation and listening skills
– Improvisation (Kalpana Swaras and Korvais)

Progress is reviewed every six months, with the option to deepen focus or transition to a more structured path like the Diploma Program or the “Path to Arangetram.”

How It Works
In-Person Sessions: Held every Sunday at our main studio, these classes focus on group learning, ensemble playing, and live feedback. These sessions also include short lecture-demonstrations, practice strategies, and occasional guest artist visits.

Online Lessons: Scheduled based on mutual availability, these 1-on-1 sessions allow students to receive personalized attention, clarify doubts, and receive feedback on weekly practice. Lessons can be recorded for personal review.

Additional Support: Students are strongly encouraged to take lessons with advanced students (virtual or in-person) who help monitor progress, provide peer feedback and build community.

Who This Is For
– Adults with a strong interest in Carnatic music, regardless of prior training
– Busy professionals looking for a thoughtful, culturally rooted musical practice
– Students returning to music after a break and seeking a supportive, low-pressure environment

Enrollment & Expectations
There are no formal exams in this program, but consistent engagement is key. Students are expected to practice regularly, attend scheduled sessions, and participate in periodic check-ins. Feedback is always constructive and geared toward steady, joyful learning.

This program honors the tradition of Carnatic music while embracing the realities of modern life. Through thoughtful pacing, personalized support and an encouraging community, Flexible Learning makes serious music study truly accessible.
